Visit to the Firehouse

I took the boys for Family Home Evening to a local fire house for a tour. They still remembered the time they went to the firehouse on Vashon and got to ride in the first aid car and firetruck to fill up on gas- so were dissapointed they didn't get a ride at first but then decided it was still a cool visit because while they were looking at a firetruck an emergency call came through so they stood to the side while the firefighters came quickly down the stairs, got in the firetruck, the bay doors lifted and the engines left. I appreciated that they waited to start the sirens until after they pulled out onto the street. It was fun to watch the kids looking on with wide eyes. The when the tour fireman asked if anyone had ever ridden inside a first aid car I was bemused as Gideon shook his head 'no' with the other kids. He was unconscious for the first ride but his second was only a couple months ago and he was awake, strapped down, and getting poked all over. I sure remembered being there with him! :)
