Nikon D40X has arrived!

I had quite the burst of excitement this morning when I heard a knock on the door. I was so happy to see it was the UPS man with our new camera! I could say it was like an early Christmas- but it really was! This camera and a camcorder are our Christmas presents this year but no good would be had by wrapping them up and putting them away until Christmas morning. Kiah had a vet appt. this morning to get some shots and I was dissapointed I had to leave it untouched while the battery charged. It was just as well as we walked to the vet because Kiah becomes severely motion sick in cars. The walk was long enough as it was and I don't think the boys could have born my stopping every while to take a picture. But we came home, I threw food in front of them and put Ammon and Hyrum down for naps and attacked the start up instructions. Everything was going great until step 8 when I was supposed to focus the viewfinder. I could not see the focus brackets through the veiwfinder at all and I was growing fairly frustrated and started delving into the thicker instruction book when I happed to look at the other side of the camera and realized the cap was still on. ...reminder: I am sharing this with you to laugh WITH me, not AT me!!! :):):)
Once past that step, I breezed into taking pictures and have had so much fun! Gideon has been a very willing subject, but I didn't have any trouble finding stuff to photograph once he became involved in a game. Ammon's rattle, Mr. Bug the worn baby toy, Kiah, and even Hyrum's dirty boots were excellent subjects! :) My favorite was the boots.
I will get those promised Halloween picts on here tomorrow- but for now here are some target practice picts.
